Oliver moved to Canada two decades ago from Kenya to pursue graduate studies in education at University of Alberta. After graduate school, Oliver worked at Centre for Race and Culture developing programs on anti-racist education, diversity, and inclusion issues. He continues to work on numerous projects that bring Indigenous Peoples and newcomers to Canada together in attempt to learn about each other’s histories and experiences. Since 2008, Oliver has been with Edmonton Immigrant Services Association (EISA), where he is the Director of Settlement Services. He sits in a couple of community boards and is a past recipient of several awards from the community.
