Meet fellow enthusiasts, register for the 2025 event, and enjoy some food celebrating the richness of our culture. Whether you're a seasoned AfroQuiz participant or new to the game, this kick-off event promises excitement for all.

Those who register in person will be put into a draw for 2 tickets to an Oilers game.

Come be a part of the excitement and let's kick off this AfroQuiz season together! See you there!

Family Friendly - we prefer if you bring the kids - after all, AfroQuiz is a youth event.

AfroQuiz 2024 Competition

For the past 32years AfroQuiz has been a part of the fabric of Black History Month in Edmonton. AfroQuiz has given youth in the city aspirational figures in Black history to look up to and feel proud of their heritage. Each year we strive to educate as many students as possible about the many wonderful contributions of people of African and Caribbean heritage to the world.

AfroQuiz serves the youth of diverse cultural backgrounds in Edmonton and the greater community. Every year, AfroQuiz welcomes contestants from Grades 1-12 from any cultural background to participate.

AfroCademy is a cohort learning experience that teaches valuable study skills in preparation for AfroQuiz.

AfroCademy will offer in person sessions that incorporate, study skills, test prep, music, movement and food for truly fun immersive learning experience. Our aim is to teach study skills and have the youth learn together as a cohort. They will meet the other students in their Kingdom and make friends as they learn truly amazing content. Students earn points by studying weekly and submitting simple AfroWow videos about 1 thing they learned that week that was intriguing to them. These points will help us determine the winning Kingdom for the group prize, and the will add to individual points.

AfroCademy will be held on only 3 weekends February 4th, 11th, and 18th 2024 1pm -4pm

Spark Your Learning

Spark Your Learning is a community service initiative done in collaboration with #RisingYouth, TakingItGlobal, Canada Service Corps, the Canadian Council of African and Caribbean Heritage (CCACH), and the Edmonton Public Library (EPL).

Our goal is to have you walk away inspired to pursue your future goals and with the resources to do so.

- The interactive panel and Q&A features five high-achieving lifelong learners who will share how they navigated learning and productivity.

- The vision board workshop will entail a walk-through on how to effectively make one, as well as stationary and materials for you to make your own! (Yes, you can take these home with you!)

- The goal-setting workshop will be an interactive presentation in which you will be taught how to effectively set SMART goals, as well as how to use a bullet journal. All attendees will be provdied with bullet journal of their own so they can follow along. (And yes, you can take these home with you too!) Bullet journals are very effective tools when planning your personal life goals as they are 100% customizable!
